Tasting Notes
The Story
The Wilderness Road vineyard is grown on the sandy flats of Black Creek in Lovedale. First planted in the 1960’s, this vineyard has long been known for the quality of the grapes it produces.
The Wine
Pale lime green in colour, this wine boasts a delicate nose of jasmine and citrus. Subtle hints of lemon sorbet and racy lime makes for a refreshing and clean wine that can be enjoyed right now. The crisp acidity not only gives the wine exceptional balance, but insight into its future potential.
The Vintage
The 2024 vintage was fast and furious with the ideal conditions of hot and dry weather condensing the harvesting window to four weeks.
A dry period throughout the growing season saw the vines flourish. Yields were down, but quality was high which is ideal for our small family-owned winery.
The Potential
The wine is in a great spot now with a bright palate and crisp, zesty acidity. This semillon will develop gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years. If you can wait that long…
The Match
Our Wilderness Road Vineyard Semillon is the perfect match for any sustainably sourced Aussie seafood. Port Stephens oysters? Tick. Barbecued Barramundi? Tick. Wild caught Eastern Rock lobster? It’s a big tick!
