De Iuliis Wines, known throughout the Hunter Valley wine industry for their highly awarded wines took home four trophies at the 2022 Hunter Valley Wine Show.
The star of the show was undoubtedly the 2019 Limited Release Shiraz which won the prestigious trophy for the Best Red Wine of Show. This is the third year in a row De Iuliis have taken home the Douglas Seabrook Memorial Trophy for Best Red Wine of Show. Previously at the 2021 Show, this this trophy was awarded to the 2019 Limited Release Shiraz and at the 2020 Show this trophy was awarded to their 2018 Talga Road Shiraz.
De Iuliis Wines 2019 Limited Release Shiraz also took out the trophies for Best Shiraz and Best Mature Three-Year-Old and Older Shiraz and Best Other Red Trophy for their 2019 LDR Vineyard Shiraz Touriga
Mike De Iuliis, owner and winemaker said “it was truly humbling to have both our 2019 Limited Release Shiraz and our 2019 LDR Vineyard Shiraz Touriga as the only top contenders for the Best Red Wine of Show. This recognition showcases our dedication and commitment to consistently producing the best red wines of the Hunter”
International Wine Judge, Jeremy Stockman, noted “it’s a testament of a great winemaker in Mike De Iuliis to take out the Best Red Wine of the Show for the same wine two consecutive years running. 2019 was a great vintage and this wine displayed beautiful freshness and concentration”.
Overall, De Iuliis was awarded 2 Top Gold, 5 Silver and 10 Bronze for their wines. These achievements across their range cement their reputation as a leading Hunter Valley producer.
This win comes off the back of recently being awarded 2022 Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year at the Hunter Valley Legends Awards. De Iuliis was also awarded, for the second year in a row, 5 Underlined Red Stars by the 2023 Halliday Wine Companion. This accolade is only awarded to the top 2% of wineries Australia wide and means De Iuliis is considered ‘the best of the best’.
