At a gala night celebrating the crème de la crème of the Hunter Valley, two rising stars Jenna Vaughan and Emily Glover were respectively awarded the Riedel 2023 Young Achiever of the Year and the Brokenwood Wines Advanced Wine Technical Scholarship. Both Emily and Jenna represent the next generation of females carving their way through the wine industry.
Jenna Vaughan, Marketing Manager at De Iuliis Wines was recognised for her passion for innovation and showcasing the De Iuliis brand and for her work promoting the region in the digital marketing space. The Riedel Young Achiever of the Year award recognises an individual under 35 years of age for their contribution to developing a vibrant and professional Hunter Valley wine and tourism industry.
Of the award, Jenna said ‘I am so proud to be recognised for my contribution in showcasing the unique stories of the Hunter and leading the way as a young female wine marketer. It is an honour to be recognised amongst such a strong selection of candidates and highlights just how bright the future of the Hunter Valley is.”
Emily Glover, winemaker at De Iuliis was awarded the inaugural Brokenwood Wines Advanced Wine Technical Scholarship. The scholarship will take Emily to the Australia Wine Research Institute in South Australia in June, for an intensive four-day course that will present the latest techniques and technologies in winemaking and wine production.
Emily said, “this scholarship is a great opportunity to learn about the innovations in the wine industry and then come back to the Hunter and share my learnings with other young winemakers.”
The Hunter Valley Legend Awards are the Hunter Valley Wine Industry’s peak Awards recognising and promoting excellence in the wine industry. De Iuliis was also a top-six finalist for the 2023 Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year, after being awarded the Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year in 2022.
