Vintage is in full swing here at De Iuliis Wines, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride! With all the hustle and bustle, we’ve managed to tuck away all our whites and most of our reds snugly into the winery – talk about a grape escape!
This year, Mother Nature decided to turn up the heat, giving us a dry growing season and scorching hot days. But fear not! Our grapes have weathered the storm with grace, thanks to those trusty hot, drying winds keeping disease at bay.
Verdelho led the charge, paving the way for our other stars like Semillon, Chardonnay, and Pecorino to shine bright. We’re almost ready to bottle up those refreshing Semillons and aromatic whites – stay tuned for a taste of summer in every sip!
As for the reds, they’re making quite the entrance, with parcels of Shiraz, Merlot, and Tempranillo already making their grand debut in the winery. And the excitement doesn’t stop there – Montepulciano and Touriga will be handpicked this Friday, adding to the vibrant tapestry of our vintage.
Speaking of which, we’re putting our basket press to work this year, ensuring a gentle extraction of juice that keeps the flavor and color locked in. It’s all about preserving that rich, vibrant character that makes each sip a delight.
And hey, speaking of delights, we’ve got some exciting news – this vintage, we’ll only be sourcing Sangiovese from the Hilltops region in southern NSW, giving it that extra touch of terroir-driven magic. Get ready to raise your glasses to a vintage that’s shaping up to be nothing short of spectacular!
