Tasting Notes
Region
Hilltops and Hunter Valley, NSW
The Story
The synergy of two premium New South Wales wine regions is identified with this striking blend. Pristine Hunter Valley shiraz sourced from our family vineyards is unified with brightly perfumed Hilltops Mourvèdre. Enjoy this Special Release wine as a reflection of our ongoing commitment to winemaking and innovation, made in limited quantities.
The Wine
The medium-bodied Shiraz offers elegant red currant flavours and a lively, crunchy acidity, while the aromatic Mourvèdre weaves in delicate rose petal notes and savoury spice.
Together, the blend of 65% Shiraz and 35% Mourvèdre creates a well-balanced and captivating wine.
The Vintage
Excellent growing conditions in 2022 led to healthy vines and good yields in both the Hunter Valley and Hilltops. Both the shiraz and mourvèdre vines are hardy and disease resistant, aligning with sustainable and responsible farming practices.
The Potential
Enjoy this wine now for its vibrant and youthful character, which makes it immediately delightful. Alternatively, for those who prefer more savoury notes, it has the structure to age gracefully over the next 5 to 10 years.
The Match
Considering the 2022 Special Release Shiraz Mourvèdre’s medium weight, red currant and savoury spice notes from the Shiraz, and the aromatic rose petal and earthy undertones from the Mourvèdre, a delightful food pairing would be grilled lamb cutlets marinated in rosemary and garlic, served with a side of roasted root vegetables.
