Tasting Notes
The Story
An outstanding vintage, 2019 was the third hot and dry year for the Hunter. Blocks of shiraz from our Steven, Talga Road and LDR vineyards were individually picked, processed and vinified. Stylistically, each of these vineyards produces a key component that we blend to create this outstanding wine.
The Wine
Bright and fresh cherry, plums and red currants framed by silky smoked tobacco characters. The sweet spice and earthiness are exceptionally balanced with fine-grained, toasty tannin. An intricately well-crafted wine that will develop beautifully with patience.
The Vintage
Low yields, small bunches and pristine fruit were the hallmarks of the 2019 vintage. A hot and dry growing and picking season resulted in high-quality fruit coming off our vineyards.
The Potential
With its profound structure and promising complexity, this wine possesses a significant ageing potential, suggesting it will continue to evolve beautifully in your cellar. Consider acquiring a case to enrich your collection, affording you the rewarding experience of opening a bottle annually to witness its nuanced transformation over time.
The Match
Our 2019 Limited Release Shiraz is recognised as one of the best Hunter Shiraz wines, having won multiple trophies and medals, including Best Red Wine of Show at the Hunter Valley Wine Show in 2021 and 2022. This award-winning wine pairs perfectly with a dry-aged tomahawk steak, served with pomme mousseline, green beans, and a rich jus.
