Meet our winemaker, Conor. He’s been making wine across Australia and France and we’re lucky to have him here making your favourite De Iuliis wines. Between Mike and him they are the winery dream team.
What’s your wine background before De Iuliis?
My career in wine started with working in wine retail in Canberra and from there I worked vintages around the Hunter for Brokenwood and Tyrrells. I then completed uni in Adelaide and got experience doing vintages in the Rhone Valley, Margret River and Mclaren Vale before coming back to the Hunter.
What do you love most about working at De Iuliis?
I can’t decided between two things. The first is the small, close knit team here at De Iuliis. We all have lunch together everday, and sometimes Mike and I cook for them. It’s a great culture to be apart of. The second, the small batch, premium focus with our wines. We get to make exceptional Hunter Valley wines from fruit sourced from our own vineyards here in Pokolbin and Lovedale.
And finally, what’s your favourite wine at De Iuliis?
Our 2021 Rosé, I find it the most enjoyable to make and to drink!
