Grape growing and winemaking run through the De Iuliis family, as generations before them owned vineyards for generations in the Abruzzi area of central Italy. Here in the Hunter, Joss and Mike planted their first
vines on their Lovedale Road property in the early 90’s and since the brand has grown to be known for exceptional hand-crafted wines.
Recent winners of the Best Museum Shiraz at the 2021 Hunter Valley Wine Show, amongst 6 other trophies, you’ll soon get to taste why De Iuliis
wines have such a strong reputation for world-class wine.
Participants will also enjoy a cheese platter from Hunter Belle Cheese and receive a twin set of Riedel Veritas Old World Syrah glasses (worth $120) to take home with them.

Get a taste of what it’s like to be a De Iuliis winemaker with the De Experience. Explore our onsite winery and discover our innovative wine making from press to bottle. Moving through to the cellar door you’ll then enjoy a tasting of our award-winning Hunter Valley wines each matched with a selection of cheese made from local producer Hunter Belle.
Battle of the Back Vintages
De Iuliis Wines vs. Thomas Wines
Two of the Hunter’s most lovable larrikins, Mike De Iuliis and Andrew Thomas, are known for their quick wit (except after a few Peroni’s), cheeky banter and most of all producing exceptional Hunter Valley wines. Join us for a showdown in the Battle of the Back-Vintages that explores iconic Hunter varieties, semillon and shiraz from Thomas and De Iuliis wines.
Tasting will be conducted blind, so you can choose your favourites wines to vote on the title of King of the Back-Vintage!
Participants will also enjoy a cheese platter from Hunter Belle Cheese.
Brush & Barrel: Live Art Installation with Thom Muir
22nd to 26th June
Join us as we celebrate the Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival with a live art installation by emerging artist, Thom Muir. Thom will be transform our cellar door into a live art installation as he paints two original pieces. Book in for one of these sessions and you’ll get front-row seats, wine tasting and a local cheese platter as you watch the artwork come to life. You’ll also get to paint your mark on the De Iuliis cellar door as Thom invites you to paint with him in an interactive way.
