The hot, dry December weather has sped the grape ripening right along, and vintage 2025 has begun here in the Hunter Valley. Last week’s rain didn’t dampen our spirits, as it was much needed.
But now that we’ve started picking, it can go bugger off. We’d appreciate it if you wanted to do an anti-rain dance for us. You can send your submissions; the best anti-rain dance will get a magnum.
On Monday morning, handpicking began with the Chardonnay from our Steven and Lovedale Road vineyards. This morning, Verdelho was harvested from the Lovedale Road vineyard.
Last year, we saw a significant drop in yields picked, so we are pleased to say we’ve experienced much better crop levels this year. So, fingers crossed, we won’t run out of your favourite wines so fast.
Next week, we will be looking at picking more chardonnay, and hopefully, the semillon will be ripe for the picking. It’s a really good time to visit the Hunter Valley, if you want to understand more about the grape harvest. We’d highly recommend you join us on a DeLuxe Winery Experience tour and get to experience the grape-to-glass process!
