Tasting Notes
The Story
The Wilderness Road Vineyard is located on the sandy creek flats along Wilderness Road in Lovedale. The sandy loam soil in this vineyard hosts vines planted in 1966, producing some of the best old vine Semillon in the district.
The Wine
Elegance with intensity, starting with a lifted lemon & Kaffir lime bouquet that seamlessly moves onto a palate welding lemon zest & grapefruit. The minerality and acidity blend into a single stream of mouthwatering flavours.
The Vintage
Good rain throughout the growing season saw the vines flourish through a cool & dry extended harvest. Handpicked and whole bunch pressed to encourage delicate aromatics and vibrant characteristics.
The Potential
The wine is in a great spot now with a bright palate and crisp, zesty acidity. This wine will blossom with complexity over the next 15 + years. Think creamy, toasty, nuttiness balanced with brightness and fruit purity, making it captivatingly complex.
The Match
Our Wilderness Road Vineyard Semillon is the perfect match for any sustainably sourced Aussie seafood. Port Stephens oysters? Tick. Barbecued Barramundi? Tick. Wild caught Eastern Rock lobster? It’s a big tick!
