The Vintage
La Niña brought good spring rain for the growing season with above average rainfall. Our vineyards where lush with an excellent canopy protecting the grapes for the ripening season. A cooler summer allowed for medium bodied red wines with spice and elegance.
The Story
For a long time I’ve had a fascination with the Spanish grape variety Tempranillo. We wanted to make a fun, early drinking style of wine and I think we nailed it.
The Wine
Deep red, with a vibrant purple hue. The aroma is savoury, earthy, spicy with a hint of cherry, plum and blackcurrants. This wine is packed with vibrant fruit, subtle regional earthiness and rounds out with rustic tannins. A light to medium bodied style of tempranillo.
The Potential
Drinking well now, but will continue to improve with 5 plus years further cellaring.
The Match
Pulled pork shoulder in the smoker with a glass of this tempranillo is a real crowd pleaser!
