Hunter Valley (LDR Vineyard)
A dry growing season and hot harvesting season contributed to low yielding and high-quality fruit. The 2018 vintage can be described using three words – fast, furious and favourable!
Mike was still in school when in 1991, after five years of careful planning and soil preparation, his father Joss and grandfather Charlie planted these Shiraz vines on their Lovedale Road (LDR) property.
Planted on clay loam over friable red clay, this soil produces exceptionally bold and well-built wines.
Deep red in colour with a vibrant purple hue. Savoury, earthy, and spicy aromas leap out of the glass with a hint of cherry, plum, and blackcurrants.
The palate is rich and complex with ripe plums, blackberries and savoury spice. The finish is rounded out by well integrated tannins. A medium to full bodied Hunter Shiraz.
Careful cellaring will see this wine develop beautifully over the next 10 – 15 years.
Enjoy alongside sticky BBQ beef short ribs, smokey baked beans & char-grilled corn
