The Wilderness Road Vineyard is located on the sandy creek flats in Lovedale. The alluvial soil in this vineyard is nutrient rich producing an iconic style of Hunter Semillon known for it’s finesse and potential for your cellar.

Mike was still in school when, in 1991, his father Joss and grandfather Charlie planted these Shiraz vines on their Lovedale Road (LDR) property. Planted on clay loam over friable red clay, this soil yields exceptionally well-built Shiraz. The 3 ha of Shiraz, sourced from heritage shiraz cuttings.

Following an unusually wet start to the season, the clouds parted for a mild, steady summer that allowed our old vines to flourish. Blocks of shiraz from our Steven, Talga Road and LDR vineyards were individually picked, processed and vinified. Stylistically, each of these vineyards produces a key component that we blend to create this outstanding wine.
